"Our teachers and students have been excited to use this program. Since we require that all students enrolled in our Career and Technical programs complete a job shadowing experience, we wanted all of our Career and Technical Educational instructors to have access to this program. So many of our young people do not have private transportation available to them for job shadowing, and Oklahoma City has a limited public transportation system. A solution for us was to offer VirtualJobShadow.com as an alternative to traditional job shadowing. It does not require transportation or days missed from school. It allows students to access "job shadow" careers that would not typically be available to them. VirtualJobShadow.com allows students to shadow many different careers within the career exploration process."

In September 2010, the Office of Regional Services at the South Carolina Department of Education launched a partnership to provide all middle and high school students access to their catalog of virtual job shadowing profiles (VirtualJobShadow.com) through the Personal Pathways to Success Web portal.
As a result of this partnership, all schools in our state are better prepared to meet the Education and Economic Development Act (EEDA) requirement that every student has an opportunity to participate in an extended/work-based learning experience prior to graduating.
To date we have been very pleased with this partnership. Career counselors, along with other educators, have expressed appreciation for having the VirtualJobShadow.com profiles available to their schools. Recent data indicate that students from every region in the state view one or more virtual
job shadowing profiles on a regular basis. According to survey results, students believe that the VirtualJobShadow.com profiles provide them with the information necessary to make more informed career decisions.
(Strivven Media) is a valued partner in the Personal Pathways to Success initiative; and their product, VirtualJobShadow.com, is an invaluable career exploration resource.

Dr. Charlie Bradford
Career Development Coordinator
Last summer I was looking for help in establishing a quality job shadowing program for Enka High students and discovered the VirtualJobShadow.com program. This program has helped to solve many of the problems that I was encountering with traditional job shadowing, such as transportation to the shadowing site, scheduling visits so that students did not miss school, and getting permission from local businesses and industries for students to shadow.
In February, 2009 three of our teachers began using the Virtual Job Shadowing program in their Career Management classes, and our goal is to expand its use to every student in the school. The videos of actual people working in a variety of career fields are interesting and informative. Occupations are listed in the sixteen career clusters that North Carolina is presently using in the high school curriculum. Next year we plan to introduce the program to more teachers, students and parents. A great feature of the program is that students are able to access the program at any time. We want to encourage them to use the program at home with their parents when they are making decisions about colleges and careers. Again, thank you for producing such a great
program for our students to use.
Sincerely,

"I see the students being more interested in career planning by being able to see it in action
rather than have me stand up at the front of the room and just telling them about it. We're really excited about it -- we have really put (VirtualJobShadow.com) to good use."
